Quality Meat Production

Maximising the performance of livestock to produce a consistently high quality carcase is at the heart of the Quality Meat Production Focus. Led by Waitrose, Dovecote Park and Dalehead Foods and supported by EBLEX this area of the event may hold the key to securing you an extra few pence per kilo for your stock.

A series of innovative tools from EBLEX will help producers visiting the event to understand the various market specifications for Beef and Lamb. These include:

  • The unique virtual Beef and Lamb programmes which uses computer generated images and photographs of carcases and carcase cut-throughs to demonstrate the changes in animals across the Beef and Lamb classification grids.
  • The "Cool Wall" uses life size carcase images to further demonstrate the differences in carcase classifications.
  • The classification challenge is an interactive game through which producers can put into practice their new found knowledge.

Producers will also have the opportunity to discuss ration options and use EBLEX’s new "ration calculator" which matches feed rations to on-farm forage availability.
